Raspberry Pi 5 died in Zynthian V5.1

Hey all. I got my Zynthian V5.1 in October, and I’ve been enjoying it a ton! I have it sitting on top of a keyboard that I can go fiddle with whenever I feel like.

In December, I noticed that it was no longer turning on. The Raspberry Pi 5 (which I purchased as part of the Zynthian kit) now flashes the LEDs green 8 times, indicating SDRAM failure. I’m not sure how this happened, and I assume that the only reasonable option for repair is replacing the Raspberry Pi.

I feel like this is an unusually fast time for the Pi to die. Is there a warranty process I can follow, having purchased it along with the Zynthian?

Hi @HERO!

Please, send a video with the failure and i will report to our provider (Farnell).

Thanks!

Thanks @jofemodo. I’ll need to disassemble my Zynthian a bit to get a good recording, as I’ve been peaking through the DIN port to see the status lights.

Should I share the video here, via email, or somewhere else?

You can send here or by PM. Up to you!

So I was a bit busy and hadn’t gotten to this for a bit. I had the Zynthian unplugged for a couple weeks, waiting to be opened up. After separating the top and bottom of the enclosure and powering it on, it started correctly, no longer displaying the error.

Not sure what happened. I would lean towards “something got better after being unplugged,” but for now I’m just happy I have my Zynthian back
