Even though I’m a long time Zynthian user, at the moment I’m confused as to the state of the different versions.
- Oram - stable version, but apparently not getting any updates since all development is on Vangelis.
- Vangelis - still in development?
- And then there’s ‘Vangelis Zynbleton’ (Zynbleton Vangelis - READ ME) which I still can’t figure out if it’s a separate version or simply alluring to the fact that with the latest features Zynthian is approaching Ableton [Live I’m a assuming] in terms of sequencing capabilities.
There is long thread on Vangelis (Zynbleton Vangelis - READ ME) but it seems more of a progress report on the new features.
The Wiki (Zynthian Users Guide - ZynthianWiki) seems to be fairly recently updated, but doesn’t really offer help as to what version to choose or what the real difference is.
I think it would be beneficial to all if there was a fairly short and concise thread [this one perhaps?] highlighting the current state, without going into a lot of detail in the thread itself.
(I’ve stayed away from Vangelis, partly because of its development status, and partly because I view the Zynthian mainly as a multi timbral module, having my sequencing needs fulfilled elsewhere. I’d love to give it a twirl once things have settled down though.)
