Rotary encoders clicking but not encoding [solved]

I recently built my Zynthian v5. All is well except for the rotary encoders - they click fine when pushed, but turning them has no effect - the rotary action doesn’t seem to be picked up.
When I first built the device, the numeric keypad didn’t light up on first boot, but it has been fine since. I don’t know if that sheds any light on the issue, but thought it was worth mentioning. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi @jonnyjupiter !

Welcome to @zynthianland!

All the 4 knob-buttons are working OK?
All the 4 knob rotaries are failing?

Anyway, i would bet the control ribbon cable is not well connected, Probably not fully inserted Please, recheck the control cable connectors. Both sides. And please, be extremely careful to not worsten things by breaking the connectors.

If this doesn’t work, please, check the control cable termination contacts are not damaged.

All the best

Hi @jofemodo

Yes, the knob-buttons work fine, just not the rotaries.

I’ll have a go at reconnecting the control board cable at both sides and report back.

Please, do it. And check the cable contacts too.

Sorted! Took several attempts, during which the entire control surface stopped working (except the touch screen), but got there in the end. Many thanks for your help.

It is my solemn duty, in such circumstances, to sidle up like the pathetically petty bureaucrat I am, am mutter the immortal . . . .
