I have a Raspberry Pi5 8GB, a 7” touchscreen and A Blokas Pisound Micro. No matter what I try, even with just the Pi and nothing else connected except a hdmi screen and a keyboard, I eventually get the Splash Screen with ‘ERROR’ in big red letters, and at the top it says IP: Audio/MIDI (x) where x is a number that counts up every 3 or 4 seconds. I have done a little investigation with the help of chatGPT and it seems that the first boot is failing to complete, although I have left it for like 30 minutes in the hope that it was going in the background.
I have retried after reflashing the SD card with the Pi imaging software several times, with just the pi, the pi and the touchscreen, the pi and the pisound micro, and with all three, I have used a 32GB card and a 256GB card, and I have also tried Balena Etcher, but I always end up with the same result.
The image is designed to work out of the box with the Zynthian hardware, if you want to use your own screen and soundcard you need to set it up in the Webconf
Also: have a good look round on the rest of the wiki
Thanks for your reply, I have read about changing the webconf, the problem is that I never get into a booted state where the webconf is available to edit, every time I attempt to run the first boot it fails as described above.
Webconf should be accessible even when the main UI isn’t running. It is a different service. Webconf should be accessible with the URL http://zynthian.local which should allow you to configure the soundcard (which is what is being reported as being misconfigured).

First try setup when you have a regular HDMI monitor and Blokas Pisound Micro sound card connected to the RPI5. This should allow you to start and run webconfig. My experience is that if you have a non-standard monitor and sound card configuration that does not meet the standards for Zynthian V4 and V5, the first boot on RPI5 from a fresh SSD card will not succeed.
On regular HDMI monitor you configure the sound card at webconfig and it works, swap the monitors.
