My current setup is Zynthian v5.1, Circuit Tracks and Korg SV-1 as Masterkeyboard. Everything connected to Zynthian via USB/Midi. I use Zynthian as a Keyboard expander and next goal is to explore Zynseq. Playing live and use some recorded sequences via Zynseq in the background. And 2nd option is to to use Circuit Tracks for sequencing chains in Zynthian. Sustain pedal is necessary to be recorded when sequencing instruments.
If I can help to test/check relevant updates just let me know.
I tried to record some piano parts in zynpad and I came to the conclusion that the sequencer will only record the last sustain CC message it received during the pattern. Say I have 4 chords and I press/release sustain pedal on every chord. While I record, I can hear the sustain on the 4 chords, but when it plays back, I can only hear it on the last chord. If I keep recording and simply press the pedal again during the first recorded chord, next time the pattern will loop I’ll get my sustain on the 1st chord but it will be gone on the 4th, and so on. Basically, recording a sustain pedal press seems to delete the previous ones, which makes zynseq somewhat unusable for piano parts (at least from my pianoteq-user+sympathetic-resonance-addict point of view ).
I was gonna report a bug then I saw this thread… Was CC recording in Zynseq implemented since March? Is it a known issue? I’m using latest vangelis (updated right now)
Hi @pat! That feels like a different subject than this topic which was about how sustain behaved during live playing, swtiching chains, MIDI learn, etc. I suggest raising an issue by clicking the “Report Issue” button in webconf console. CC support in zynseq is fairly new so is likely to have some bugs. (It was implemented in the back-end a long time ago but only exposed to the user recently.)
I can confirm the issue. It seems when capturing MIDI just last pedal is saved in the pattern.
Please, open a bug report in our tracking system. I will fix ASAP.
OK! This is fixed in vangelis. I hope to merge in Oram very soon.
Note that trying to “overdub” pedal while recording will generate a total mess. You should undo last recording with pedal before recording again.
Zynbleton branch has an improved CC editor that allow easier CC edition and deleting each CC separately from notes .
