The Zynthian Kit v4 has been released!

Multi-timbric is near the bottom under “Software” section.

Well I ordered the 8G in any case… thought it would be a good idea to future-proof as far as possible.

Hi,
what is the availability of the Kit. When i order today, when will you ship?
I am asking because you have no real live photos. On your rendering i am missing the RCA jacks from the sound card.
So i it takes some time for the parts to arrive i can order later.

Regards
Jens

Wow that looks really nice - top job!
I’m inspired to rebuild mine in a new case with buttons like that.

We start shipping tomorrow and have some pending orders. New orders should be shipped by the end of the next week.

Regarding the photos, we used a render bacause we don’t have good photos yet, but yes, we have the cases

And we have cases with holes for RCA too.
In fact, initially, all v4 kits have RCA output, although we are thinking of removing these connectors.

The photo above is from a prototype and it’s not for sale yet. Current v4 alucases have RCA connectors , like this:

Sorry for the misunderstanding!

How will the HiFiBerry fit without the RCA and 1/8" jack holes? Will users have to de-solder those connectors from their HiFiBerry hats?

Hi Daniel,
If you’re a guitarist you will have lots of fun with the Zynthian, and most of all appreciate the truly stunning sound quality

Hi,
Used https://blokas.io/patchbox-os/ o test mod devices “app”, liked it and went for the https://www.moddevices.com/moddwarf for guitar stuff.
My idea for zynthyan is more keyboard/synth oriented. I’m learning keys to try to get out of my guitar mechanics, more melody over chord changes instead gluing guitar licks. (you can do that on the guitar, but I’m been failing to accomplish that)
Best,

We will use a customized hifiberry, without RCA connectors.

Ordered! Looking forward to it

Have the RCA sockets returned? (And are they functional?)

Really cool :+1:

Can you confirm please:

  • Line in are balanced ?
  • Adjustable Line input gain is donne via jumpers or inside thé codec chip using Alsa control ? Is that adjustment affecting both lines or Can be done independtly ?
  • Line out are single ended ?

They never had gone … yet!

The render images and the photo above in this thread are from the next prototype we are working on, but still haven’t closed the deal with HifiBerry for having customized soundcards nor mass-produced the alucases …

My fault! Sorry for the misunderstanding … you are truly attentive people

Yes. 2 balanced audio input with adjustable gain by software (no junmpers).
Note that currently, zynthian UI 's ALSA Mixer doesn’t allow to adjust the gain separately. You should do that with the alsamix CLI utility. Anyway, i will fix this limitation ASAP. It’s a high priority task over my desk

Yes. Line out are single ended.

With mu metal screening can and internal electrostatic shield

is possibly the way to go if you want balanced out.

Or this cheaper and ready made solution.

@jofemodo

This looks excellent! Excited to get mine! Do you have an upto date eta on my order?

Thank you all for your responses.

So, to clarify my personnal needs:

  • Must be as compact as possible, with no external hardware like DI box or so. “Less is more”, I like to Travel light
  • For the output lines, RCA is best choice: this solution has the best compatibility with common amplifiers and many entry level monitors.
  • For input lines, a combo XLR (for Dynamic balanced microphones like my SM58) / 6.35mm jack (wich could be balanced or not, knowing that the codec can provide, with Alsa software, a wide range of adjustable gain for different kind of instruments) is the more accurate solution, as I’m playing (badly) bass or guitar, and try to sing (even worstly, but there must be an auto-tune effect elsewhere :joy:).

I own an USB interface (behringer umc204hd), wich is pretty good and fits really well my needs regarding its in/out equipment but:

  • It’s powered through USB, and that makes the Rpi suffering of underpower effects like xruns. Note that the Pi has to power a 7 inch LCD screen too, so maybe with a 3.5 spi display this problems will disapear, I don’t know yet.
  • it’s a second box to cary on.
