Transpose with midi CC

I am using Zynthian. I use the Roland Edirol PCR500 MIDI controller, and it does not have a transpose function. Is there a way to assign a MIDI CC to use global transpose? Of course, I am aware of the transpose feature in Zynthian, but it cannot learn MIDI CC, and using it with the encoder is quite inconvenient.

Hi @sangto2906!

Will you please explain your workflow? I don’t understand why you want to use a MIDI CC to adjust the transpose.

Of course, it is frutrating when someone asks why (but it really helps to understand), so here is a possible solution (based on the info I have from you so far)…

Enable and add “MIDI Chromatic Transpose” plugin to a chain then MIDI learn the CC to the Transpose parameter. This will allow you to use a MIDI CC to adjust the transpose of the MIDI notes reaching that chain between the range -63…_64 semitones.

It’s okay, I lack confidence when playing scales with many black keys.

I want to use the transpose feature via MIDI CC assignment because my Roland PCR-500 doesn’t have that function. I’d like to assign it to global transpose for more convenient use. Many parameters can be MIDI CC-learned, but the transpose semitone parameter isn’t available for that.

I have tried the MIDI Chromatic Transpose plugin. However, I only want to increase or decrease within a range of 5 semitones, so it’s quite difficult to control this with a plugin that has such a wide transpose range.

I just want to ask if Zynthian has this function and if I can use the global transpose feature without having to go into the admin menu.

Anyway, Zynthian is a fantastic solution for me. I had been searching for quite a while and happened to discover it. Thanks to the Zynthian development team!

Not sure if this could work for you but it migh as you tell you use small range of transposition mostly. Different transpositions can also be saved into subsnapshots and again changed with program change commands.
