Hey,
Just picked up my 5.1 kit and put it together a few days ago. I couldn’t get the system to boot. I decided too try inserting the micro sd directly to the pi and it booted with no bother. I have re-inserted the ribbon cable a few times and retried to no avail. I was wondering where I could go about getting a replacement cable from as mine may well be broken. Too harsh of a bend? Not sure.
Is there anything else I could try to eliminate possible issues? It seems pretty cut and dry to me but I’m no expert. I’m using a 256gb card if that matters and as I said, it boots fine if its inserted directly to the pi
I will send you a replacement ASAP.
Please, send me a picture from the “broken” cable, i would like to know how it broke and try to find solutions for the future.
Hey! Just wanted to resurrect this thread because I suddenly am having an issue with my SD card slot.
Everything was working fine for the past several months, but I hadn’t plugged my Zynthian in for a couple of weeks. When I went to boot it up today, it just hangs and the screen never shows anything. I opened it up and tried a bunch of things before finally figuring out that the SD slot is no longer working with extension cable. If I put the fully functional SD I’ve been using for months directly in the Pi, it runs fine. I am not sure if it’s a failed ribbon cable, but I’m crossing my fingers since I hope it’s not an issue with the slot itself on the PCB.
Anyways, I would love to start by replacing the ribbon cable first, but I can’t find any info on the 10 pin SD extension anywhere. Help?
Thank you! No, I hadn’t seen this, since I had assembled before the issue was noticed. I do have the bumps on those connectors so I will get them removed, however, my SD ribbon did come unsoldered at the SD part, since I was probably being a bit rough trying to reseat things. I’m comfy with a soldering gun, but not able to fix this in its current state.
Thanks for sending a replacement though! I appreciate it!
Hi @jofemodo , I also broke my SD cable building 5.1, I mailed to Susanna and she sent a new cable, thanks for the wonderful support. I attach the image of the broken cable for reference, maybe is too short and the 90° rotation can broke a contact line.
Now my Z5.1 is in perfect working shape, and as I said elsewhere is my Definitive portable synth for my music. First Keyboard master/Pianoteq or Rhodes MK V trough Neural amp modeller + Reveb and Chorus/flanger, second Key Dexed, Ostirus, or other for pad/solo/ecc.). When I go playing I bring only Z5.1 and connect whatever keyboard I find.
Thanks
