Looking in to it now.
I don’t think is detuned. I just think the VCOs are out of tune. Haha.
I am not so sure the original is played in octave but I’ll try it.

Wow. Something has happened.
The snapshot sounds way different than when I recorded it!
Hmm. Not good
I really don’t think the studio version is played poly.
Listen to this, side by side. Original first then mine.
Updated snapshot
Jumpv4.zss (35.8 KB)
I know what happend to my snapshot btw.
I pushed back and went to the preset selection and I think my selection rotary encoder jumped up and down and that reset everything I had done.
Edit:
Gah. It all sort of sounds like shit now, I have to step away from it and tweak it again fresh.
Haha.
Ok, you convinced me regarding the octave…the orchestra transcription is using an octave…maybe because they didn’t expect us to get it that fat
I don’t, but I just noticed this video was published 2 hours ago…
Van Halen “Jump” Synthesizer Reconstructed: https://youtu.be/eO1dWQJZLBg
Dr. Mix is nice. Haha.
I like him.
And how do we get the settings? Was too blurry in the video, wasn’t it?
Don’t think he showed it
If someone has the OPX-Pro II VST - the patch is made there. I copied it for my Novation Peak and it came out very close. I’d imagine we can do the same for OBXD
Ok, the easiest way to get this sound is to grab the banks from the OB-XD2 and upload them. There is a patch named “Leap” which nails the sound.
I’ve recorded a quick demo below
Have to say that the preset we can access on Surge isnt so bad either (out of the box without changes)
I think that’s the closest so far.
I agree. The rendition was pretty good too
@Humi,
I was trying to make your 4th attempt work with the current snapshot format.
Unfortunatly as you said, there are several completely wrong.
The bad parameter in AnalogSawBrass is BND I2 (bendrange). This detunes it.
Or there were pan1-8 completely off, so that the sound toggles from left to right.
I fixed it (three layers routed to midi channel 2):
002-Jump.zss (88.5 KB)
(in one layer the Unison is on, you have to fix it yourself)
