Wrong edid (resolution) when upgrading to Pi 5

I bought a touchscreen to use with my old Pi 4 that I got working really well. When upgrading to the Pi 5 I’m now getting the wrong resolution for touch. Setting the right options in config.txt worked with the 4 but not the 5

disable_overscan=1
hdmi_force_edid_audio=1
max_usb_current=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
config_hdmi_boost=7
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
hdmi_drive=2
display_rotate=0
hdmi_cvt=1024 600 60 6 0 0 0
dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d

It’s ignoring it because that’s not listed in the edid and xrandr says it can’t connect to the display for me to find the edid number to add a line to ignore that one in config. Has anyone ran into this before?

Hi @PatF , I haven’t “ran into this before”, but i have some questions and things you could try.

It might help us to know the make and model of display, a link to where you bought it, or to the manufacturer, failing that maybe a picture with a closeup of some ID plate, etc.

What are you running? If it’s Oram, have you tried Vangelis? If it’s Vangelis, have you tried Oram? In either case, have you tried updating it?

You might get some useful info by seeing if you can get it working with Raspberry Pi OS on the RPi5.

And, if you open a trouble report, with webconf, it might provide some useful information.

This is the screen and the page they provide with info. I’ve tried stable and testing as well as changing stuff in config.txt and cmdline.text. I haven’t tried a different OS yet. If that does work would I be able to copy over the x11 files?

The weird thing to me is that it worked great on my Pi 4 with the changes to config.txt I posted. I can use it as is right now at least, the touch points are just way off. I’ll have to use a mouse until I can build a case and get some encoders to wire.

Okay, on a whim I tried the waveshare 7 usb/hdmi profile (which DIDN’T work on my Pi 4) and it’s working perfectly. Weird but I’ll take it.

Yes! Sounds like a win to me!

I was just about to text you to try that setup. Your display is very similar to my Waveshare '7 HDMI.
