Zynsampler improvements, attack/release

Working with zynsampler I noticed that when you make a “cut” with a cropping tool there are audible clicks in the beginning and end of the cropped region. Which is kinda expected but not disirable.

In Reaper, for example, this is solved by auto applying micro fades at the point of a cut.

The current ADSR doesn’t seem to be effective for this issue. The Attack of 1.0 seems to be too long, perhaps 0.1 - 0.3 would be more appropriate just to smooth the click but preserve a sharb enough attack. But the knob scale only goes +1 / -1.

And release is acting strange for me, it ads a tale with a distorted sound. I think there was an improvement in most recent update, but it’s still distorted.

Ideally when cropping, there should be microfades added to cropping region start/end, with on/off control (on being default).

Ah, I was thinking that the 1**.0** is there for a reason, and there should be a way to go by finer scale. I will sure test that, thanks!

But microfades could still be a thing, when you just want a clean sharp cut without tuning ADSR every time.

I agree re microfades, but that will almost certainly have to be a post-Oram enhancement.
If you’re willing to spend the time-effort of creating a feature request in the issue tracker that will help get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Hiya! You are right that there should be click removal feature. I tend to zoom in and select a zero crossover point but of course, I got used to this when that was the only option back in 90’s but we should indeed do this automatically. Add a feature request and I will look at it after Oram release.

For now, you have the options to find a suitable crop and/or use fine attack.

Since we are in the area, normalization…?

I know, I know…

There appears to be a whole functional area here of slower than audio sample processing. Anyone seen it done nicely anywhere? I tend to bounce out to audacity to do it at the moment.

It would be nice to have a few processes including compression, normalisation, etc. They may arrive over time but there are other fun things to do, like better integration with zynpad.

Always, but back to the oramification. . .

Did I hear automation? :grin::wink:
