People are so much better than me at this stuff. . .
Can you upload the sequence screen . . . ?

log onto zynth using ssh or putty, but make sure you use the -X option with ssh & the Putty X11 forwarding . . .

export DISPLAY:0.0
scrot step_seq_screen.png

Then winscp it or to the forum…? They way you do this seems to depend a bit on your operating system . . .

but if you have putty you probably have psftp

psftp zynthian.local

then type help,( it’s lcd & cd to set up to and from directory & get to pull the file across)

… and I’m not good at things like that. It would be easier to paint it on paper. I’ll try

That is the aim… each column should / will be a mutually exclusive group, i.e. starting one will stop the others. I have much to do on that including getting them all in sync. You can currently create some interesting syncopation but that is not the intention.

Thanks to @wyleu for giving me some UI guidance earlier I will be improving the interface in the near future, maybe after I have picked the quickly drying paint off my hands… If only life were just the rich tapestry of Zynthian and not all the other stuff…

Luckily the hidden drone installed in ALL zynthian kits allowed us to take this picture of @spurkopf screen . . .

we watch so you don’t have to!

Will the mutual exclusive group toggle,
1/ at time of press?
2/ on completion of pattern?
3/ both with the inevitable mode option. . . ?

Yes :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve just updated an hour ago. My box is self-made with mcp23017 and cheap Chinese encoders. And, yes it’s a bit too much sensitive, it could be hard to select the right note/step.

But, what a huge improvement !
I really like the workflow and how the encoders are used/assigned. Maybe, while using layer button to access the menu, using the same for doing the selection is more natural.

I have to admit that I do not really understand how the pad trigger work: I’ve created 2 patterns each assigned to a different midi channel. Activating A1, Plays the first pattern, activating B1 add the second pattern but on the first channel …

I just changed the encoder integration again. I am not sure whether this improves stuff as I can’t test it here. (I have a buddy willing to test but I haven’t created the test cases for that yet.)
Your suggestion for LAYER encoder control of menu was voiced by others and it was how the original implementation worked on the basis that the menu is in the top left corner. I could move the menu  but for now I have enabled control of menu and parameter editor from both LAYER and SELECT encoders. That feels like poor UI design to me but let’s see how it works. Note: Pressing LAYER button now asserts the change. This is significant change in behaviour. (Previously it would close menu. You now use BACK button to close menu without selecting an entry.) I have also disabled panel interaction whilst menu or parameter editor is showing and allow tapping the screen to close menu.

The pad trigger is very much a work in progress and is not performing in any real sensible way yet. What you can do is tap a pad and select the menu option to change the MIDI channel for that pad. There are some bugs and poorly implemented or missing features there so you may find it rather frustrating at the moment. I will put a bit more effort into that soon but we really need a sequence editor which will allow configuration of what is behind these pads and facilitate the song editor.

Good evening everyone! Please tell me how to turn on the step sequencer? I can’t do something.

Go to software / reoitory and select feature stepseq in the zynthian_ui section

WebConf: Software->Repositories

Select ā€œfeature/stepseqā€ then ā€œSaveā€

The encoders now work properly on my zynthian! :upside_down_face:
I like the idea with the layer button, I always had the intension to turn it when I openend the menu with it.
What didn“t make much sense at this point.

Try to update software first on zynthian directly.

Is it directly through Zynthian?

Yes directly through Zynthian. I had the same problem, i think something in webconf changed, so this had to be updated first.
If you can then start webconf via browser, you can continue with riban’s instructions

So I have to pull out the memory card and re-download the software. I tried to update in different ways and nothing works.

Yes it is :+1:

Excellent :+1::+1::+1:

@spurkopf How did you sync the drums to the synth? Are you playing those by hand?
