Zynth club. .. There's just one rule in Zynth club

I don’t think I can make it at that time, maybe somewhat later I might be able to join, maybe not, but who knows?

@riban (or anyone else) could you share the link with me?

But there is Bell maintenance that needs doing…

So…

Blimey, the first time in ages my son went to bed smoothly, before eight. Alas, you don’t want bell trouble, now do you?

With Brits England, Brits in Germany, Brit descendants in the colonies… (that is bound to offend!) we gathered for a night of musings without purpose or direction. There were subjects discussed other than those I remember…

  • MACKIE control in zynthian.
  • The direction of the sequencer, including new launcher workflows being developed.
  • Films that substantially affected us, including Reservoir Dogs and Naked Lunch (which incidently is more on the writing of the book than an adaptation of it).
  • Run-away success of newly released albums.
  • Matching success of zynthian torrent.
  • Women’s soccer.
  • Using zynthian’s multitrack audio recorder to capture rehersals and then importing to DAW for manipulation. Apparently it works very well.
  • Don’t use Garage Band to produce an album. It can be (and has been) done, but presents undesirable challenges.
  • Other recording workflows with favourte DAW seeming to be Ardour. (It is good!)
  • Consider your DAW based recording process and signal flow to avoid build-up of latency.
  • Recorded latency does not need to be an issue. Live latency is more affecting, e.g. when front-of-house sound engineer uses plugins on a laptop for effects. (Tell them that your zynthian will do that, thanks!)
  • Will BBC radio feeds become unavailable outsdie UK later this month? BBC say no (except the few with rights constraints, like sport). These feeds are available in the default list in Vangelis internet radio player.
  • We were reminded of the availability of Mechanical Music Radio and 24 hour Nick Cave on YouTube (although the latter seems to be unavailable).
  • Some people have too much time to do indiscernibly beneficial things, like build micro supercomputers.
  • Zynthian is not currently actively considering the move to Trixie which is not yet released.
  • People arrived for the meeting early and late, sometimes due to timezone confusion which supports the argument that the whole world should use UTC as its single, never changing timezone and that work, farming, schooling, etc. should just change start and end times as required. (Who would think it makes sense to shift whole continent’s time to allow a farmer an extra hour in bed?)

edit: no, you did, I’m an idiot.

Bad Seed TV was one of those things so good I just assumed it would be there forever. But time passes fast from when it was announced 5 years ago to when it disappeared 4 years ago!

Would love to join one of these one day but the time is tough for east coast Aus unless you’re an early riser (not myself, at least not intentionally). How long do they usually go for? Maybe I could join later if they go for more than an hour.

Hi @LFO!

We tend to start at 19:00 UTC because it catches most of the world, but some areas are quite early/late. We tend to waffle on for about 3 hours, depending on how much piffle we can muster. We mostly get people from Europe (evening), USA (morning) and Australia (early morning in NSW). I have attended from NSW in the past and it is rather early but quite an interesting (sometime sureal) start to the day. Twice I have been there on ANZAC day and heard the day-break bugles during zynthclub.

Well I missed it all because of yous lot falafeling about.

I am going to set up a protest meeting at 7pm on Monday 21st to discuss it. Optional for everyone except @Baggypants who has to be there.

I will be around if I wake up :>

Only thing worse than turning up for Zynthian Club at 4am is turning up for Zynthian Club at 4am … 7 days early. I misjudged @MrBroccoli’s level of righteous indignation and thought he was seeking immediate recompense by calling a meeting for this morning

Great, I’ll be at one with a mug of tea, bleary eyed and bugle free

I am glad you took the time to run your own protest. It shows that this is an important issue and we will not take it lying down (which is what you should have been doing at 4am)

There is not a lot of difference between sitting up and laying down for me at 4am. Only took me an hour to realise I got the date wrong when no one turned up at 19:00 BST or UTC.

Tonight, remember.

Do I have to bring a bugle?

No, a soundfont of a bugle will do. You don’t need a real one.

A bugle?? I spent ages making this bear costume…

We arent’t lucky enough to have you turning up in a zippy costume are we…?

It just provides such a magnificent muting facility.
