Zynthian as midi librarian: load and save sysex patches / patch banks

Hello, I have seen there is already a MIDI SysEx manager in the Presets & Soundfonts Library for sending .sys files. But receive and save sysex is not feasible at the moment right?

For a DAWless setup it would be a great thing to have the zynthian as a Librarian device that:

  • receive sysex patches with and giving them a name before saving
  • send sysex patches back to the HW synth
  • has OPT page explicit for that function on the device
  • is a midi sysex file storage device
  • optional: usually I do not change my HW synths midi-channel often, so an alias of the midi-channel e.g. 14=microkorg could be the file name save suggestion: “microkorg_name.syx” or if no alias: ch14_name.syx

advantage:

  • no need for having a weird looking windows librarian software to control any HW synthesizer
  • no PC needed

drawback:

  • know how to control the HW synth to send/receive sysex (RTFM )
  • a direct midi connection between to the controlled device (probably without midi merge/split)

Setup boundary condition:

  • Zynthian + HW synth need a direct connection with midi in+out or,
  • the setup consists of a configurable midi preset device such as: iConnectivity mioX… or Conductive Labs MRCC …

What do you think? Do I miss something?
