Zynthian crashes after playing with certain patch, must reboot to recover

Unfortunately it remains obstinately useful in supporting GigaSample format and some OpCodes that SFizz does not. We need to keep it chained in the dungeon for now.

Do you have any idea how many steps that was to get it up there . . . . ?

That alone is enough to keep it. Gigastudio was the DX-7 of the 2000s and there are a lot of really iconic instruments from soundtrack and game music that aren’t available in any other format (you’re not going to get this sound without the GIG version of Garritan Orchestral Strings, for example - all of the later versions used a mostly new sample set with heavily remastered versions of the samples that were retained from the original). Even though it doesn’t support all the features of Linuxsampler (and Linuxsampler isn’t quite 100% feature compatible with Gigastudio/Gigasampler) Zynthian is still the only standalone GIG player available (ever) and that’s a feature worth keeping.

Deprecating it to disabled by default seems reasonable, though, or at least changing the description to say that SFizz is the preferred SFZ player.
