Zynthian did not boot, red exclamation mark highlighted in keypad

I’m using the Zynthian v5.1 kit with the RP 5 and base software (Oram, not Vangelis).

I was at rehearsal last night and when I turned on my Zynthian, nothing came on except this exclamation mark was colored red:

I ejected the SD Card and reinserted it, and the Zynthian booted up no problem.

What exactly does the red exclamation mark mean? I’m assuming it was a temporary inability to read the SD card, and could point to needing to get a new one. This would make sense, as I’ve been using the same build on the same SD card for over a year and my Zynthian gets frequent use, including boot-ups due to moving it for rehearsal. I also recorded a few sound waves direct to this SD card because I maxxed out my 4 USB inputs and didn’t have room to add a memory stick.

Can anyone confirm whether this is an SD card issue? I need this to be as reliable as possible for my gigs, so if this is pointing to something potentially more serious, I need to get this checked out as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @tkc !

I’m sorry to say on startup error LED colors mean nothing. They can light in a totally random fashion, without any relation with the boot issues.

Regards,

Thanks @jofemodo . If you saw this issue, would you say that it likely was caused by an SD card that couldn’t be read? It seems likely, given that ejecting the card and reinserting it fixed the problem (though how permanently it fixed the issue I’m not certain).
