Hi- long time no chat! I’m traveling with zynthian in hand and started it up to do some music and songwriting. Anyway …it got stuck restoring (setbfree)
Googling and AI’s answers involved Removing Last State via SSH or Accessing Webconf to Clear Snapshots. Are either possible on mobile only? I don’t have my computer available to me.
Hi! I have a zynthian 5. It was a fresh install, early 2026. The device wouldn’t start up today, it was stuck while it was… restoring, mid start up process (in the middle of “restoring setbfree”). It’s never taken that long to start up (7 minutes?). Other than reaching that step and then stopping it was just an every day startup process. Unfortunately I had to shut it down, so I could pack it. (I’m traveling right now.)
Looking at my posts here on the boards, the software / OS is just the default zynthian OS installation from this January 2026. Hardware is v5.
(Side note- This issue makes me sad!*)
I didn’t have a lot of time, so I’ll try to better diagnose what’s going on when I get home, I’m flying soon. Hopefully it was just a one time startup issue
You could access webconf from your mobile phone and delete last_state.zss snapshot, but It could be tricky if you have no access to the UI to enable the wifi access point.
If you could download the snapshot first, we could analyze and find the cause.
It’s a rare cases that i would like to investigate. If needed, we could think a way to force a clean boot.
hi @jofemodo Well (now that I am back home), the device restarted OK, no problem. Not sure what that issue was about or what caused it, but it sort of got to me because i mainly need the zynthian for when I’m traveling around. In that scenario yeah you’re right, the zynthian device wouldnt really know what the local wifi is, so it would be tricky for me on Android (or even on desktop?) to connect to the zynthian over webconf.
I’ve attached the last state zss snapshot. It would kind of cool, i think, to solve this kind of problem (issues when youre away from home).
