Zynthian V5.1 Audio-in have different volume levels in SooperLooper and FX

Hello everybody,

I was noticing that if I use both audio-in connectors on my Zynthian V 5.1 with two real instruments in SooperLooper the second one is more silent then the first one. I don’t know why. I was checking both volume faders (real and digital) of the instruments and even with high volume the second one was much more silent. If I change the audio-in cables 1<–>2 it stays the same.

I noticed that if I have different audio-chains with a variation of FX I have to mute all the other audio-chains to be able to use the specific FX chain I want to record in SooperLooper. Otherwise I might use the wrong FX even if I select the right audio-chain. Anyone else noticing this behaviour? It makes live-looping a little cumbersome. But I don’t complain because in general Zynthian is just great. A big thank you to the developers for creating this great box  Since it is able to do so much it is really ameloriating GAS if one is willing to spend a little time with it.

If I want to use a microphone with the Zynthian V5.1 I have to use one which does not use phantom-power? Or is it better to use a usb-microphone in general?

Thank you for your help

That is correct, the Zynthian does not provide phantom power, so you can either use a Mic that does not need phantom power, or get it externally, for example with an outboard mixer, or as you mentioned, with a USB Mic.

Thank you very much. Did you use SooperLooper with different audio-ins and have the same issue with the FX and volume?

Nope, sorry, I just knew the answer to your phantom power question, I’ve had no experience with audio inputs on Zynthian. Although, now that I’m typing this, I’m realizing that I do know that the audio inputs on Zynthian are line level inputs- - I wonder if that’s the issue, they’re not microphone inputs at all.

Well, in fact they are (too).

The HifiBerry DAC+ ADC Pro has a very large dynamic range.
