I’ve built Zynthian ver 3. When I feed it power I see nothing on the display screen.
When I connect an HDMI monitor I see “something” is booting … but text, as in typical boot sequences, all goes by quickly, it’s impossible to see exactly what’s happening. I can see a few failure messages (but can’t tell what)
then the boot process reaches a point where there’s only a cursor but no way to enter cmds, exit, etc.
i pulled aruk-3 from zynthian box and put in a card with rasberrian buster (from the pi site). everything starts up fine and that os seems fine … but of course it doesn’t interface to the zynthian box.
what’s next? i downloaded aruk-3 through safari on mac osx but i’m waiting for it another copy of it to download through curl.
all help and suggestions appreciated. meanwhile, i’ve double and tripled checked all connections on the zynthian box and dont’ see any problems (yet) of my own making …
what’s the next step? (thanks in advance!)
(in fact, I’m writing this from the pi that’s installed in my zynthian box … but it’s running raspberrian buster and not aruk-3.)
Please, re-burn Aruk RC-3 in the SD and try again. First boot takes longer. You have to wait until the Zynthian-UI is shown. You should see a white screen with the “Zynthian” logo several times during the process.
Hi, have checked and double checked and made sure the right pins are in the right places and flashed a lot of cards but absolutely no luck or joy! The screen on the Zynthian remains totally inactive.
I can disassemble everything and begin again if you think that’s the best way forward. But I’m pretty certain I followed every instruction (double checked everything before making connections … but who knows …?)§
Just tried one last time with an Aruk-3 card in a RPB attached to an HDMI monitor. It goes all the way to login and password but the screen is flashing on and off such that it’s impossible to enter root and raspberry (or pi and raspberry)
I just booted with full zynthian (complete kit) AND with attached HDMI monitor. Nothing.
Then I booted with Zynthian monitor detached but the box still connected to HDMI. I get a flow of boot up things happening on the HDMI screen but the process stops shortly after a failure notice with something to do with WIFI. But I’m getting no further than that.
I’m thinking I should
Reflash Aruk-RC3 (have done this several times already)
Try Buster-RC1
Isolate computing block and try with HDMI monitor?
It’s always possible that I made a wiring mistake somewhere but I’ve gone over that and matched things to pictures and PIN numbers on the board (where possible). So I’m fairly confident about what I put together.
All guidance appreciated greatly! (No stopping until I get this thing to work!!
I connected an Ethernet cable from my computer to the Zynthian Box. Success with webconf through ssh (and finding out that I’m zynthian.local and putting that into a web browser.
Next, I enabled wii (entered credentials and then set it to “on”, rather than “wifi host” or “off.”
If you could guide me to the next step please (thanks in advance!!!)
In my paranoid state after spending a lot of time in the wrong rabbit holes I thought NVM was “not very … “
Ok. I’m still not seeing anything on the Zynthian screen. But I’m guessing my next step is to go through more documentation and make sure that all is set correctly in Webconf? For example, I saw somewhere that wiring should be set to “dummies!””
In any case, are the next steps to now work my way through webconf settings and make sure all are as they should be?
if you have an official kit, you just have to select the correct kit.
You cannot change wiring, audio or display.
You select the Custom kit, if you want to make changes in that area.
Next step is showing us the Log, which can be seen in the webconf as well
And here’s a log printout in normal mode (non-debug)
Restarting UI in normal mode
