Latest musical "effort" 🧐 .. Thanks Zynthian

Back in 1990, my group and I did a concert with 500 people listening. It was broadcast live on a local radio. Someone recorded it on audio cassette. I found it and I am publishing a song here. I apologize for the sound quality. The group was called Embargo and the first song of the concert, Ithaca, was dedicated to the mythical Ulysses on his return to Ithaca and the famous archery competition…

Giovanni - Guitars
Antonio - Voice
Alberto - Bass
Nico… (RIP) Drums
Lanfranco - Synth and Piano

Lovely and melltrow!

All we get up here in the bitter north, up near the wall, is Oasis and LS Lowry paintings. . .

I don’t like Oasis … but you can’t say that England hasn’t created good musicians (I don’t understand much about pictorial art … the painter of the family is my sister http://www.manuelasimoncelli.it/) … They are not to my taste, but they exist. For example, I only love Italian jazz … again for my tastes Americans are too technical and not very melodic. While Italian jazz musicians make music full of poetry, just listen to Fresu, Pieranunzi and many others.

And here is my first job in the new recording studio… I realized that playing in a new place is like wearing new shoes… I feel a little uncomfortable… :no_mouth:

That is beautiful. Just what I needed to sooth my migrane.

Thanks @riban…

One of the best of your recordings. IMO, slower and more relaxed style suits you more. It sounds natural and less engineered.

Many thanks…

I recorded this song for a presentation video of a company that produces wedding dresses… it was not accepted… I can’t put the video for copyright but I put a frame…

Beautiful, but very mournful. I’d not play that on a wedding.

Thanks. I agree! But you should watch the video… it’s in black and white and the beautiful dancer’s movements are in slow motion in many places, so a more ā€œcheerfulā€ music wouldn’t have suited the tempos. The black and white already gives a feeling of melancholy, I wasn’t able to ā€œfeelā€ a different composition…
It was an advertisement for luxury wedding dresses.

I found a photo of the concert!!! What fantastic memories… it was the distant year 1990… Yamaha CP 70-b electro-acoustic piano and Korg DSS-1 keyboard…

Note the keyboard stand and the stool… In those days in Bologna there were music festivals every month. and in one evening even 4 groups played… so there was no time to set up and set up so many things… what wonderful memories…

Slowly, slowly, maybe I’m finding my way… After composing and recording the music for the commercial video (not accepted), I worked on another piece staying in that genre. I find it really fun to work with the orchestra, recording instrument by instrument (as suggested by @Aethermind…Thanks) and ā€œplayingā€ with my little knowledge of harmony. This will improve my old ear (I hope) and my musical knowledge… I’ll start from here.

I’m working on the ending… but I would like some feedback and advice from OUR experts. Thanks

Hi @Lanfranco, I will certainly have a close listening to your part writing in this piece. And, kudos on your new path of more ā€œanalyticalā€ composition!

Best regards

I started another piece in the ā€œsoundtrackā€ genre… I’m having a lot of fun ā€œplayingā€ with an orchestra… Obviously with all my limitations. I decided this morning to sign up to SIAE… I’ll never earn a penny (or euro :joy:) with Music, but trying doesn’t cost much…

UPDATE! UPDATE!

@Lanfranco I’d suggest to look into soundreef as cheaper and valid alternative to SIAE. Heard good experiences from different friends.

Thank you very much. I’m looking into it, but obviously I would have to regress from SIAE. I’ll think about it for a few days and then I’ll decide whether to change.

Another ā€œCinematicā€ style track But having played with real guitarists I miss a guitar played by a human… I wonder if the good @riban will record my part… :innocent:
Unfortunately my idea of global collaboration here in the forum, did not succeed…

I am probably not as good (a thrash guitarist) as you have managed here!. (Partly because I spend far too much time coding and far too little time playing!!!) If you publish the part (score, MIDI, whatever) then maybe someone might have a bash at it. I suspect that won’t be me… but you never know.
