I absolutely agree with you!
This time the musical effort isnāt mine, but I took @ivaneoās song and with his authorization I put a drum kit and some strings on it. This track is beautifully harmonized and I couldnāt resist. Now Iām waiting for the composerās opinion that he wanted drums but he didnāt tell me what kind.

If Pino was difficult due to the complicated chords, Fossati is difficult due to the fact that the voice is always in the foreground⦠and therefore I show my weakest side⦠Then Fossatiās lyrics are true poems and I often I get emotional while I sing them⦠and I have to do them again a thousand timesā¦

I have to refrain myself from answering directly in Italian, but I will stick to the legitimate netiquette of this forum.
I am really sorry for the hardships through which you and your wife have had to pass. You are quite evidently a good man, and I say it in the most comprehensive sense of the word, at least going from what I have seen, read and heard from you in this Discourse.
I know what you mean, when you point out the strong emotional purport of Fossatiās music. I have made for myself a small collection of some of my favourite Italian songwritersā works, adapted for piano and bass voice.
A few of Ivanoās highlights list in the portfolio, and I too must stop playing sometimes, when some refractions seem to coincide with my existential landscape.
I generally prefer the more universal and literary side of the music by Fossati, but there is one song (CāĆØ tempo) that, for very personal reasons, I struggle to listen in its entirety, not to mention to perform to the end with the required artistic focus.
I leave you with two lines from the beautiful āLiedā by F. Battiato LāOceano di Silenzio, which I think may embody what music and culture signify for certain people, with a fine brain and a pure heart in a hard world:

I recorded the rough backing track āCāĆØ tempoā for funā¦The piano will have to be redone once the voice has been recorded to find out where to place the chord supports. Another masterpiece that I would like to put on the CD dedicated to Fossati⦠but I canāt really hear my voice here⦠Is it possible that there isnāt a beautiful voice who wants to record it? (obviously not for a fee⦠otherwise I know many⦠unfortunatelyā¦).

Thank you for the more or less implicit, and certainly kind, invitation to take part in the project.
Iām afraid, however, that Iām not the right man to resort to for this sort of matters, since reinterpreting a song is for me an aesthetically personal task, always implying some degree of rewriting or rearrangement.
Furthermore, Ivano and me have quite strongly different ways to singing, as for range, colour, style and vocal technique (let alone the transposition downwards, and related orchestration issues, required for me to tackle the melodies of Fossati).
I am sure that you will easily succeed, in giving your own perspective on the beautiful āCāĆØ tempoā!

Just a little test for Pianoteq 8.13 in Zynthian. My piano skill is full amateur but i love how the engine sounds, even in 24000 Hz sample rate. The piano is a digital Yamaha P115 used only as a keyboard.
I had to record with an external device, because i canāt get the audio and the midi recorder to work.
The tune is the first part of In her family by Pat Metheny. Excuse me Pat!

⦠Trying to record these masterpieces⦠you understand your limits⦠Even having to decide the notes of the instruments that are not ours⦠the Strings, the Accordion, are instruments that I have never taken into hand and not knowing their behavior it becomes very difficult to give them humanity (which I ādo betterā with the soprano sax or the trumpet).

Well, I guess that a little review on my part is in order, at this point
First off: you have managed to re-enact the bittersweet retrospective mood of this song very effectively, preserving - while evidently putting in your own personal resonances - much of its touching sense of existential grandeur.
I am really sorry that our non-Italian fellows in this forum are mostly, and unavoidably, excluded from enjoying the exquisite Fossatiās textual elegance, in relationship with his clever songwriting devices.
A couple of hopefully useful technical remarks:
The third and fourth beat in the second measure of the theme shouldnāt be so strongly accented, more in a soft crescendo, because they should rather convey the sense of a restart of the phrase (sort of re-thinking ), instead of suggesting the boldness of an asymmetrical compound rhythm (a dynamic 6 + 2 in place of a calmly flowing 4 + 4).
At first listening, there seem to be a missing chord at bar 3 (beats 3-4), where the orchestral melody should encompass two minims, instead of a dotted minim + crotchet as in your rendition (I will check later at the piano).
Mastering the eloquent Ivanoās sprachgesang is no light task, especially when, as in this piece, he strives to match a lengthy lyric and a somewhat regular musical fabric, which clearly have been written one apart.
I would honestly struggle to define this piece a masterpiece, in objective terms of musical analysis and compositional content, but, as elsewhere in the output of this author, the magic resides in the small details, like the savvy usage of occasional seventh chords (not here in particular), and the resort to enriching āblueā harmonies in the context of a generally tonal framework.
You should not dismiss your earnest vocal performance: while this song, with all of its abundant and expressively heartfelt text, might be a tad beyond your objective singing abilities, you nevertheless succeeded in giving it a valid and meaningful interpretation, also in the spoken parts, with their distinctive and pleasant tinges of Italian Northern accent.
This said, kudos to your latest and challenging Musical Effort!
