SFZ sharing thread

Hi,

maybe someone knows of the Karoryfer Black and Blue Basses. They are CC-0 open source, so I edited them to be somehow Zynthian suitable.

Karoryfer Black and Blue Basses.zip (72.8 KB)

What is it?

It’s a sample library containing a “black” hollowbody bass and a “blue” solid body bass. It’s more than 1 GB in size and sounds quite nice.

Btw, I encourage you to pull the filter cutoff all the way down, because then velocity will modulate the filter in a very pleasing way.

How to install

  • Move the content of the zip file to your user soundfont directory found under /zynthian/zynthian-my-data/soundfonts/sfz/
  • Download the above mentioned library from Karoryfer
  • Move the content of their “Samples” folder to the already created “samples” folder.

What was edited

  • Replaced some ARIA functions Sfizz cannot read
  • renamed the non usable sub maps and control sfz’s so it doesn’t appear in your menu
  • reduced the patches to one per bass
  • wrote the control yml’s and chose more common midi ccs.

What could be done?

  • I thought about moving the ghost notes from a keyswitch to low velocity note ons for more intuitive playing.

Licensing

I guess given the fact it is CC-0 licenced it is allowed what I did, if not, please send me a message. I did keep all the licence files and notes in the script intact.
