Translate single MIDI note to trigger a chord?

If you want to trigger melodies, rhythms, bas lines, etc. then you can use ZynSeq step sequencer which has the feature.

Hello riban,

i have created Layer1 Multichord (Midichannel1) and Layer2 Organ(Midichannel2)

but no chord output, only single organ note on audio output, also no Midi output!

Where is the mistake?

thanks
Marco

Yesss… i have it!

i must addMidiFX on my Instrument Layer! Ok

I have problems with midi out or through out! No signals

Hi @therebell3110 !

MIDI thru is a hardware MIDI thru:

Regarding the MIDI-out, if you want a MIDI plugin sends its output to MIDI-out you have to create a separated MIDI-FX layer. A synth layer doesn’t send MIDI messages. It consumes MIDI messages.

Regards,

2 MidiFXLayer ?

1# JV/MIDI Multi-Chord
2# JV/MIDI ???

What is your current layer setup?

That is the Layer setup:

1# JV/MIDI Multi-Chord
2#

Will you please describe what you are trying to achieve? It is easier to advise how to configure Zynthian if we understand the use-case. What input do you want to provide? What output so you want?

The DIN Midi input come from my pedal output (1 single note p.ex. the key C#).
On Channel 1/ Layer 1 i have the MidiFX 1# JV/MIDI Multi-Chord
it turns he key to a chord, then i want that on the DIN Midi output of the zynthian is the generated chord for my extern sound expander

Okay, that should work. It works here. Are you using the standard Zynthian 5-pin MIDi output?

yes, standard Din 5 pin in through and out on zynthian pcb board version 2

Hello,

I currently face the same problem with the following layers:
#1 “zynaddsubfx”
#2 “Midi Chord” MIDI routed to #1

(The MIDI keyboard plays on Channel 2)

Sometime it works and sometime not, in function of some indertemined workflow.

It looks like a corner case of MIDI routing problem with MIDI FX · Issue #290 · zynthian/zynthian-ui · GitHub

Hi,
i have still the same problem with the midi out! No signal out on the din port!

Midi Log:
CH#01 NOTE_ON 60, Vel: 69
CH#01 NOTE_OFF 60, Vel: 64

Why is the velocity of the note off 64 ? Normaly is 0

When i connect my external pedal with the pc and Bome’s Midi Translator the midi message is
Note on #1: C4, vel 103 90 3C 67
Note off #1: C4, vel 0 90 3C 00

Thanks for help
Marco

MIDI monitor does not show the output of the plug-in. Have you set up some chords, play the relevant note and checked the actual output from MIDI?

Yes, i’ve tried all options without success!
My hardware is the following:

  • Raspberry 4B 2Gb
  • Zynthian All in one PCB board
  • Pi screen v1
  • Hifiberry Dac+ ADC
  • 4 Encoders MPC
  • 3x Midi In out through
  • 1x Stereo jack input on first 3 pins on P6
  • 1x Mono jack input on pin 4 and 5 on P6
  • 2x Mono jack l+r

Can i test the tx (Gpio14 - pin 8)on the raspberry for midi out signal with a multimeter
or with a software command?

Greetings
