V5 is here

,

i did, the nomenclature is a bit cryptic:) Just wondering because some of the devices can go up to 5v (5.5?). 3.3 was my first guess…

then again, with 5v in, the most they could be is 3.3v, unless LDOs are magic nowadays…

Exactly

I am reporting an ‘issue’ with my ‘beta’ V5 unit. As will become clear in a moment, it is not a particularly urgent issue.

Description: Occasionally-rarely the Zynthian hangs after a ‘cold’ power up at a ‘mildly backlit’ blank screen.
Normal power up sequence - Switch on, slight screen flicker, BRIGHT screen flash, pause about 3 or 5 seconds, Zynthian logo screen appears and buttons turn blue, and everything is wonderful!
Hang sequence - Switch on, slight screen flicker, BRIGHT screen flash, pause forever, or at least 15 minutes that I gave it before trying power off-on, which worked normally.

I should mention, although I don’t think it has anything to do with the issue, that the power switch I’m using is on the AC power strip that the Zynthian (alone) is plugged into, not the one on the back of the Zynthian. I have my reasons, which I’ll be happy to talk about if anybody is interested.

This happened today when I turned on my ‘beta’ V5 Zynthian on after it had been off for a couple of days as I worked on the Franken-[RISC-V]-V5 Zynthian-Zynia. I think I have seen it before, perhaps even on a V4 Zynthian, but I wouldn’t swear to it.

Let me know if you’d like me to report it a different way. And now back to Zynthian-Zynia…

Another Non-Urgent issue with my V5 unit - I wanted to upgrade from the Staging version which was recommended for V5s to the new Stable.

I thought I’d skip mucking about with SD cards, so I went into WebConf, chose “Repositories” from the “Software” menu and after a distinct pause (like 5 or 10 seconds) got a “500 Server Error” message.

I looked at the logs and there were various errors but it looked like the essence was the disk-SDcard was full (32GB), and I noticed dashboard showed SD card was full, so at that point I decided to just upgrade via the SDcard image.

Sorry, I didn’t think of capturing the Dashboard or logs. I do have the old SDcard if anybody really wants to look at it, but I believe this problem was known and fixed based on Zynthclub conversation. Upgrade via image went smoothly and now shows SD Card: 41% (12G/29G).
