Hi @jofemodo , yes preset for short clips is working fine now.
But still there are issues with mono wav files. Loading them into clippy is not a problem. As soon as I start the mono clip, it’s showing me a seg fault and booting zynthian-ui.
I tried with stereo, 3-channel, and 4-channel files - fine, but 1-channel files (mono) throw me seg faults.
If you want to save some of your presets and patterns etc, you may be able to access the file-system on the SD Card and save the /zynthian/zynthian-my-data folder along with its sub-folders like /zynthian/zynthian-my-data/presets then copy them back after writing a fresh image.
Unclean shutdowns can lead to SD-card corruption. I had that a while ago. Attach an HDMI monitor to inspect this. If it is an SD-card problem you may be able to recover, or you may not, depending on the damage.
That is a bug. Chain manager friend on no more than one synth engine. Please repost as a bug in issue tracker with as much info as you can about how to reproduce.
It is a Zynthian 5.1 with nothing custom about it. As I said, I cannot ping it with the Vangelis SD card in it. (and I meant by the IP address directly, which may not have been clear). I am only using the previous release on a backup SD card, so I can use it at all. So, I think I am safe using it in this way.
Ok. I am able to read and mount that card on my Ubuntu Studio machine. When attempting to copy that directory, I got a single file that gave me an error, which was one of my more basic snapshots (and likely the one that I was using last). Other than that, everything seems normal.
Thank you for letting me know which files I aught to backup. I presume that is everything I need, and realistically, I don’t have anything major like full songs built on the device at this point.
It is a SanDisk Extreme 64GB. I am relatively confident that it is not a phony, but looking back at my order, it seems like it was through a 3rd party on Amazon, not direct. So, I will check that. Anyhow, the card has given me no problems since I got it in August of last year. I am going to run f3 on it and see if anything looks suspicious. Assuming all turns out well, I guess that I will just wipe it, re-install and hope this is not a recurring issue.
In the future, if there are any bugs that give the Segfault error (which always seemed to force my machine to restart, even when I was shutting it down), is there a more foolproof way to ensure that I get a clean shutdown? It’s really the only thing that I can think of that has been abnormal. I am careful to shut it down cleanly every time.
I have a Zynthian 5.1 kit without modifications. Am I missing something about how I aught to be able to connect an HDMI monitor? Would I use a USB dongle or something? Or is that just something that you can do on yours, but it is non-standard?
Thank you for linking to those instructions. I just tried to repair the file system in place, which seemed to make no difference. I haven’t decided whether to spend the time trying to do the whole image repair thing or just move on, but I appreciate the link.
I’m sorry. Because of this being the development branch, and those segfault errors, I thought of it as related, but I will move further messages elsewhere now if that is preferred.
I just meant if we were going to continue re sd cards and such (your “It is a SanDisk Extreme 64GB” paragraph) we should put it in that topic. Looking back on it now I don’t know why I was impersonating the Thread Police, just keep it in mind if we go off topic here and I’ll do the same.
I am sure that @tunagenes didn’t want to act as the evil TSCG (Thread Subject Conformity Guardian), but Zynthian is an extremely multifaceted landscape of topics, and in order to preserve their usefulness, especially in prospect when one wants to retrieve information at a later stage, the separation of their specific areas of interest must be safeguarded.
I am confident that you understand the underlying rationale .
