Welcome back @798714773 , we’ve missed your digits.
There was a related question recently asked in another topic, and the answer was it’s a EuroRack version of V5. Here’s the topic, but it did not involve zynface_v5 or Zynaptik-3. I don’t know for certain the answer to your question on whether zynface_v5 needs to be connected to Zynaptik-3, but I think it does, or at least that’s the normal way it works.
Hi friends,
I’m working on how to put together a zynthian v5 with thru hole components and breakouts (for things like the mcp23017). I think it’ll make an interesting and very modular version of the hardware that will be great for tinkering with code and new hardware configurations. My question is, in the zynthian_hw files, what is the difference between v5_control and v5_control-rack? Is rack shorthand I don’t know? Why are there two versions of what appear to be the same schematic?
Thanks fr…
Here’s a couple of more topics that might help:
Ah… I think I’ve resolved my confusion… the V5_control_rack schematic Multiplexer replaces the zynaptik multiplexer. So I can run buttons and encoders off 0x20 and 0x21, while the zynface adds a third multiplexer for handling the cv_gate I/O, and an extra 8 GPIOs. So I wouldn’t need the additional multiplexer from the zynaptik schematic.
Is this correct?
And then I’d choose the wiring layout of “MCP23017 Zynaptik-3 Zynface” e.g.

Hi,
Just a quick question before i get a zynface board fabricated (assuming you are not getting any back in stack soon); is it compatible with the Zynaptik-2 module (with the MCP23017/MCP4728) which is what i have in my zynthian?
I’ve just started getting into eurorack and been happily making modules and creating happy noises. Now i really want to get cv in/out of my zynthian , something to do while waiting for V5
