I agree that we should have some common workflows, documented and proven in the wild.
In regards of tedious audio in and out config when having approach with multiple chains (chain per fx) in the patch we could create guitar template snapshot with common few chains properly linked and named and ready to add fxs. For example have empty chain named compressor, distortion, amp, delay, reverb chains in snapshot ready for configuration.
I am straggling to get ratatouille to save properly snapshot. It never loads models or IRs after snapshot is loaded or after restart. Also there is a strange behaviour that all audio channels are marked with yellow S on the top once they are loaded.
Also I am straggling to get IR cubism working. File selector is not showing IRs folder and there is no VNC UI for this plugin. It is a best practise to not mix cabs when playing live and only have multiple amps going into the same cab so that tonal difference is not odd for audiance. Ratatouille is not great for this because each amp has its own IR. Therefore I am using standalone NAM and IR after it. Is there are any other standalone IR plugin ? Can cubism be fixed so that *.wav files can be loaded from IRs dir.
These errors are on both stable 2502 and test.
I have seen the same problems with Ratatouille. It does load the models and IRs if you save a preset and then save the snapshot. But it does not load different models on ZS3s unless presets are saved first. I also can’t load IRs with IR Cabsim. I am using x42 - IR Convolver Mono in series with NAM which seems to be working properly. It’s built for reverb convolution so it has a dry/wet control. For cab sims, just turn that to all wet. I have also used AIDA-X in series with NAM (turn off the amp modeler) for loading IRs. It also has the EQ and depth/presence controls.
Thanks for confirming this. I thought that I was going crazy with ratatouille because it sometimes load snapshot and sometimes not. I will test with preset first approach.
I know that IR can be loaded through some other plugin but it would be good to have a just IR loader plugin. IR cabsim looks appropriate. Also I am pretty sure that IR cabsim file selector worked at some point but stopped on latest versions.
The good thing is that when NAM and IR works it is very convincing. Also it takes pedals in front of it very well and behave like real amp. I was never being able to achieve the same with lines 6 helix.
Hence I play now much more now than ever. I have two zynthian boxes. I use one with stable snapshots and another for experimenting where I spot these issues.

I’ve been talking with Tone3000 guys and they kindly invite us to integrate zynthian with the tone3000 API. I think this would be really fantastic, but it’s not in the priority list.
Anyway, perhaps some of you have the “web developing” skills and want to step forward and go ahead with the integration. The API seems well designed so it shouldn’t be a hard task for someone with the right skills.
For the curious, these are the exact words from the Tone3000 guys:

This project sounds very interesting. If no one else is interested, I’d be happy to give it a try. I’m currently on vacation and I can’t promise when I’ll be able to show the first results. So if someone else has plenty of time, I don’t want to jump the gun.
I mainly play guitar, but I use a Zynthian in the band whenever I get to play keyboards. I often work with (Python) APIs in my day job… It’s actually the perfect fit for this project, and I might even be able to replace my Mooer GS-1000 with it 
I will start to read the API docs…

From that description you can obviously wonder why he didn’t make one plugin with a series/parallel switch.
By the way, speaking of choice overload: I read guitarix has nam support, too, but we use the single lv2 components I guess. Is there a guitarix nam module as lv2 already? And can this be helpful?

I still haven’t tried my V5 with guitar, so many features for guitar players.. amazing.
I’m kind of off track with IR’s and sims, I just use an uold Roland GP-8 and never really needed anything else, it does it all for me, with a good tube amp.. I feel old now lol
I really enjoy jamming on the couch at home with zynthian and playing my Fender Deluxe Reverb wirh some nice pedals in the rehearsal room.
That said I’m not totally sold to the NAM models, they can sound really amazing, but I’m no fan of the fixed controls they have.
I just joined a new band and am looking at the various options to get the required sounds and my main issue with NAM is that you kinda need to know the exact sound you want then select it. There is not iteration with tweaking knobs. You can sound amazing but it can be a challenge to find a specific sound. This is further frustrated by the sounds not being catagorised or tagged. If I want a clean sound I have to dig through all the distorted ones (which constitutes over 90% of the models) to find one, by which time the sound I was searching for has fallen out of my head.
My zynthian rig for this is not yet fully operational so I am likely to use my Vox AD30VT (modelling) amp and maybe my Zoom G1Xon effects pedal initially but hopefully can migrate to the zynthian with a few models for the amp & cabinet sim plus some stompable effects for distortion, compression, reverb, delay, etc. (At that stage I am likely to be feeding the guitar and other zynthy things through my PA bins but might retain the Vox… time will tell.)
