Zynth club. .. There's just one rule in Zynth club

Is tonight, right?

right?, tonight…?

si . . . .
bring soup.

Tonight’s the night. I love the nightlife…

Finally not possible for me. Next time.
Have a good zynthian clubbing night ^^

I’m going to be late. Badger ate a junction box at New Malden

Was totally planning on attending. Unfortunate timing of a work-related phone call changed my plans :disappointed_relieved:

Next time for sure!

Hey… That’s just down the road from me!

Quite how I ended up delivering a raspberry Pi3B , Power supply, HDMI cable, keyboard & mouse to a work colleagues house forty miles away, beyond Stoke, on the other side of a dam in blinding fog, I’m not sure, but that’s where I ended up…

Despite the bitter disapointment we all felt at the absence of many of the brethren we carried on regardless.

  • Pi-hole is a network wide ad blocker which acts as a DNS, filtering out many of those unwanted intrusions into your browsing. It will run on any old (or new) Raspberry Pi. I put it on my heating controller!
  • Some get annoyed at how many times they pay for their TV services: subscription, advertising, pay-per-view, personal data collection.
  • The third series of Westworld loses the plot a bit.
  • Some older DSLR cameras (like the Canon EOS-350D) are not supported by Windows 10, nor are many CF card readers. A Raspberry Pi 1 and an hour of time and we have a device that recognises the camera plugged in via USB, automatically transfers new photos and shares them on the network.
  • Magic Lantern is an alternative firmware for many cameras which might breath new (or alternative) life into them.
  • Aerial photography can be better with a kite than a drone.
  • Korg have released a new synth, the modwave - it must be a new week!
  • @ronsum demonstrated progress on the Atari ST Zynthian. Screen is mounted and RPi installed, running Zynthian but no keyboard integration yet. Oh how we swooned.
  • In old news: Yamaha buy Steinberg.
  • MIDI is simple. Someone should be able to knock up a multi-input/output router/processor (not disimilar to Blokas Midihub…) and maybe someone is working on that…
  • Several of us have the Korg NTS-1 Digital synth kit. Another toy to vacuum time but what gives with the retro 7-segment displays? Someone is considering squashing it into a Eurorack.
  • @MrBroccoli showed progress and resulting financial deficit of his Eurorack adventure.
  • The can be fun had, reusing old bits of electronic kit and building into your music rig (including squashing an old transistor radio into a Eurorack).
  • @jofemodo Can the pending Zynface analogue interface be made in a form factor that will fit in a Eurorack slot?
  • The more @wyleu -esque attendees revelled at various methods and demonstrations of giving electric shocks.
  • How do you solder surface mount components? In the microwave??? (Hint - NO!!!)
  • You can pick up rather cheap USB controllers that will drive MIXXX turning your Raspberry Pi into a 1970’s D.I.S.C.O. But beware that you may need later (e.g. V2) models for class compiance and hence easy integration.
  • Maplin made a kit for their 5600S synthesizer. How we wanted one then but so don’t now"
  • Behringer continue to tease us with promises of the esoteric French RSF Kobol synth and the classic British VCS3. When will this madness end and how many of us will surcumb to it?
  • It can be cheaper and more sustainable to buy second hand electronic instruments rather than the plugin version.
  • Honda make motorcycles that just work and carry on working. Some can be quite fun (if a little quaint).

So I’m thinking we should run the next one either on the 2nd Sunday of Feb, or Mon 29th?

Thoughts?

Probably best if we pick an actual day, unless you mean in 2044 which is the next Monday 29th of February. Of course, the second Sunday of Feb is pre booked as an important date, for some… Valentine’s Day.

It should be done, I’d try to make Monday 29th . . .

Showing Zynthian some love.

If ā€œflowers and chocolatesā€ was an lv2, I would download it. :heart::heart::heart:

As it isn’t, I’m going to try and be more sensible and offer up the very real option of Monday 15th February 2021 at 19:00 zee em tea!

I’ll be an hour late but it’s got my vote.

Monday the 15th works for me.

Not long now!

Yep! 19:00 UTC on Monday 15th February 2021 to share whatever love we have left over after Valentine’s day. Usual place. Direct message me if you need details.
