I “cooked” a different angled 3d plastic case for my Zynthian Mini v2 build. The fit was slightly tight, but it fitted. Here are some pictures, along with my custom built analog ortholinear keyboard and an Exquis.
Hi! Stupid question! I am building a Zynthian Mini. I have the rev 2 board where the audio board is positioned where the audio jack is facing the side of the case. Is the audio jack from the board used? Or is the audio routed to the 1/4" barrel jack right next to it? I have been scouring pics to figure out how people are building the rev 2, but not finding the right pics to make me feel confident. Please help!
You can connect to either. Audio out from card is routed to jack on PCB board. Clearly connecting directly to pcm5102 card mini jack is not going to be as robust to often plug in and out as it would be when using a proper 1/4” jack that can also be screwed to external case. You can not fix mini jack from pcm5102 card with screw to external case.
But if you don’t have jack to solder to pcb you can use mini jack on audio card.
While building my Mini I made a couple mistakes. Specifically, soldering the sound card before the switches caused two switches to be very difficult to solder. Using male/female headers for the sound card avoids that pitfalls.
Where it says:
Then solder sound card. First solder male header pins that came with the card and the solder it to PCB board.
I would suggest to say:
Then solder sound card. There are two options to do that:
Option 1 (strongly suggested): Use male/female headers to attach the audio card.
Solder the male headers that came with the card to the pcb and use female headers for the sound card itself.
Option 2: Soldering the sound card directly to the pcb
First solder the switches that are covered by the audio card footprint.
Check if the solder bridges on the bottom of the JA GY-PCM5102 are configured as in the following image
Finally solder male header pins that came with the card and then solder it to PCB board.
Also, where it says:
Then solder the switches.
I’d probably say:
Then solder the switches. Properly align the switches and encoders (with the fascia if you have one).
I tried to update wiki but my edit access does not work anymore. Zynthian wiki says that I need to confirm my email address to be able to edit the content but when I try to confirm my email address I am not receiving an email with a link from zynthian wiki for confirmation. I have tried everything, even removing and adding email again, however whenever I try to trigger confirmation email from wiki it does not appear in my inbox or spam folder.
